Short Bio
Begoña Olmedilla-Alonso, Pharm.D., Ph.D. Research Scientist at the Institute of Food Science, Tecnhology and Nutrition of the Spanish National Research Council (ICTAN-CSIC), since 2006. Previously work at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital (HUPH), in charge of the Vitamins Unit (1987-2006). Research lines: – carotenoids and vitamins in the context diet and health (analysis of food and biological samples, nutritional status, bioavailability, biomarkers) and – functional foods (design and assessment of the effect of their consumption in humans).
Olmedilla has been a member of the HUPH Research Commission and the Ethical Committee for Clinical Research. She is the coordinator at the technical committee for standardization for the food sector (AENOR / UNE) and an accredited expert at CEN. He is also a member of various international editorial committees (among others, European J. Nutrition, Nutrients) and was a member of the British J. Nutrition. In terms of teaching, he participates in undergraduate and research staff training courses and has supervised several doctoral theses. He has directed numerous research projects and published more than a hundred articles in international scientific journals.http://www.researcherid.com/rid/D-1337-2012
