Breve biografía
Licenciada en Farmacia (1994) por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), obtuvo el título de Doctor en Farmacia por la misma universidad (1999). Investigador postdoctoral en el Instituto de Bioquímica, CSIC-UCM, Madrid (2000), y en Alemania en el Instituto de Bioquímica I, Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de Colonia. Se unió al anterior Instituto del Frío (CSIC, actual ICTAN) como investigadora “Ramón y Cajal” en 2003 y promocionó a Científico Titular en 2008. Desde 2022 participa como Investigadora en el Centro de Investigación Biomédicas en Red de Diabetes y Enfermedades Metabólicas Asociadas (CIBERDEM) Su actual actividad investigadora en el campo de la bioquímica de la nutrición incluye el estudio de los mecanismos moleculares de acción de los componentes bioactivos de los alimentos, principalmente compuestos fenólicos y sus metabolitos, y su potencial efecto sobre la salud y en la prevención de enfermedades crónicas relacionadas con el estrés oxidativo (cáncer, diabetes, enfermedad cardiovascular). Su experiencia incluye el desarrollo de diferentes aproximaciones experimentales en cultivos celulares, animales de experimentación, y más recientemente, estudios clínicos en población sana y grupos de riesgo, con especial interés en diabetes y sus complicaciones.
