Breve biografía
María Ángeles Martín Arribas es Científico Titular en el Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de los Alimentos y Nutrición (ICTAN) del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Obtuvo la Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid en 1991 y el Doctorado en Bioquímica y Biología Molecular por la misma Universidad en 1995. Comenzó su carrera investigadora en el Instituto de Bioquímica (IB, CSIC-UCM) y en el año 2005 se traslada al ICTAN (CSIC). Desde 2007 participa como Investigadora en el Centro de Investigación Biomédicas en Red de Diabetes y Enfermedades Metabólicas Asociadas (CIBERDEM), que agrupa a los 29 mejores Grupos de Investigación españoles en el campo de la diabetes y enfermedades asociadas. Actualmente es la Investigadora Responsable del Grupo NUTRALMET (Nutrición y Alteraciones Metabólicas) (https://www.ciberdem.org/grupos/grupo-de-investigacion?id=16904) del CIBERDEM.
Su actividad investigadora se centra en el estudio de compuestos bioactivos naturales, principalmente polifenoles, con efectos favorables frente a enfermedades asociadas al estrés oxidativo y la inflamación, con especial atención a la diabetes y sus complicaciones asociadas. Su interés también se centra en la caracterización de los mecanismos moleculares específicos implicados en los efectos beneficiosos de estos compuestos, incluida su relación con el microbioma intestinal y su impacto potencial en el metaboloma.
